Why is "SAD!" funny?
Political
Who it channels
Donald Trump's all-caps posting style — the one-word verdict tacked onto the end of a message.
Where it comes from
Trump habitually ended posts with a single capitalised word of judgement — "SAD!", "WRONG!", "FAKE NEWS!" — throughout his years on Twitter.
Why it lands
Said as a standalone sentence, in capitals, with an exclamation mark, it instantly puts on the voice. You are not insulting the thing — you are appraising it the way he would, and everyone hears the cadence. The joke is the impression, delivered in one word.
How to drop it
A friend cancels dinner plans by text. You reply with one word: "SAD!"
